Inside the church of Osios Loukas Monastery

The Monastery of Osios Lukas is located on the western slope of Mount Elikon, below the citadel of Ancient Sterio. The monastic activity in the area starts from Saint Luke himself, when he stayed there in the last years of his life, from 946 to 953.

Saint Luke was known and loved as long as he lived. He healed the sick, counseled people on various kinds of problems, and endowed them with the ability to prophesy the future.
