Aghios Nikolaos Orphanos in Thessaloniki
Time Period: 1981 - 1985
In a quiet location on the northeast side ofthe walls of Thessaloniki is hidden one of the most special temples of the city!
THE Saint Nicholas the Orphan is one of the little secrets of the old town. A small oasis that manages to bring visitors centuries back and causes a great sensation to all who visit it.
The church was created at the beginning of the 14th century during the Palaiologos period of Byzantium in 1310 to 1320 AD.
Its name probably came from the owner of the monastery whose identity is unknown. According to tradition, another version is the existence of an orphanage inside the monastery but also the very status of Agios Nikolaos as a protector of orphans.

"...My photography was always simple, relying mostly on my instinct, believing that this way everything would be more natural, more genuine, more real...."
Our mother's dream
With a 30-year delay, my sister Katie and I are fulfilling our Mother's dream of publishing an online album that captures her work as an amateur photographer from 1965 to 1995.
