A chapel in Theologos in Thassos

Time Period: 1965 - 1970

The first written evidence for the existence of the settlement dates back to the 13th century. The drystal clear water, the secluded location and the vegetation were the reasons why the first inhabitants settled here. It flourished during the years of piracy due to the isolation of the island, it was the capital of the island and developed into a large village.

Theologos is a traditional picturesque village with narrow cobbled streets and Macedonian architecture. It was declared a cultural capital and since then standards have been established regarding the architecture of the houses.
